LIMESTONE

Limestone

Limestone is a common sedimentary rock consisting mostly of calcium carbonate, usually in the form of calcite or aragonite. It may contain considerable amounts of magnesium carbonate (dolomite) as well; minor constituents also commonly present include clay, iron carbonate, feldspar, pyrite and quartz. Limestone is generally used as limestone tiles, limestone slabs in flooring, wall cladding, vanity tops and to pave the floors of large shopping malls, airports, hospitals, railway stations, parks etc. Generally these soft beiges and tans, either polished or honed, is employed in bathrooms, fireplaces, counters and less-traveled flooring where a more informal decor is desired. Essentially a Dolomite stone possessing oil-resistant properties, Limestone shows high resistance in freezing and thawing conditions.

Limestone is a beautiful stone that comes in many hardnesses. Some Limestones are soft and very porous while others can be hard. The key to limestone is choosing the correct stone for the environment in which it will be used. Many Limestones come in a honed (matte) finish. These stones need to be properly sealed and from time to time will need professional service. Limestone will scratch and etch, but these problems can be resolved by Mari Stone.

We can:

RESTORE, CLEAN, SEAL, REPAIR or POLISH your limestone, whether it is on your floors, walls, countertops or vanities.
